What does it take to be an active COPS member?
Time - at least an hour a month, maybe two.
If you are active in your neighborhood doing yard work, walking the dog, meeting your neighbors you are a perfect candidate for COPS.
How will I know what to do?
The requirements to become a COPS member are 8 hours of training and one ride in with a police officer. Training is held quarterly at the Police Training Center. Special training sessions can be arranged for a group. Training is available in both english and Spanish.
Are there other opportunities for COPS members?
Yes, there is advanced and specialized training available for those interested. Some COPS members become trained to work radio support at the COPS Base and work a regular shift. Shifts can be as little as two hours per month.
